Privacy Policy

Who this is from

PageKit is an iPhone and iPad app made by Ademola Olatunji. This policy covers the PageKit app, its share extension, and its widgets. It does not cover other apps or services you send your documents to.

What PageKit keeps on your device

Everything the app stores lives inside its own container on your device — the private area iOS gives an app, which other apps cannot read:

• The PDFs you create, scan, or import.
• A thumbnail of each document's first page.
• A record of each document: the name you gave it, when it was created and last changed, its size, its page count, and which tool produced it.
• The text of each document, extracted so that searching inside the app can find it.
• Your settings: appearance, the language Make Searchable expects, how the library is sorted, whether system search is on, and whether you have seen the welcome screen.
• A short diagnostics file, described below.

Deleting a document moves it to Trash. Emptying the Trash — or 30 days passing — removes the file, its thumbnail, its record, and its extracted text together.

What stays and what can leave

This is the whole policy in one place. Everything on the left never leaves the app. Everything on the right leaves only because you asked it to.

PageKit makes no network requests

The app contains no networking code. It cannot upload a document, phone home, or check in, because nothing in it is capable of doing so. There are no third-party libraries in PageKit at all — no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising framework, no tracking of any kind, and no identifiers shared with anyone.

The only outbound connections associated with the app are ones you start by tapping something: the two links at the bottom of Settings, which open in your browser, and Apple's own App Store connection when you make a purchase or restore one.

System search

PageKit offers your documents to Spotlight, so a PDF you made can be found from the Home Screen without opening the app first. When this is on, the app gives Spotlight each document's name, its page count and size, its thumbnail, and up to the first 20,000 characters of its text.

Spotlight's index is local to your device. It is not iCloud, it is not sent to us, and PageKit does not read it back for any other purpose. It is nonetheless the one thing the app hands outside its own sandbox, which is why it is a switch rather than a decision made for you.

The switch is Find in system search, in Settings. It is on by default. Turning it off removes every PageKit document from the index straight away; turning it back on puts them back.

Permissions the app asks for

PageKit asks for as little as it can, and only at the moment it needs it. If you decline, the rest of the app carries on working.

Choosing photos to turn into a PDF uses the system photo picker, which hands over only the images you select and needs no access to your library.

Text recognition, page rendering, redaction, and every other tool run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. Nothing is sent away to be processed.

Purchases

PageKit Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the transaction; PageKit never sees your name, your payment details, or your Apple Account.

All the app learns is whether a valid purchase exists, which it reads from Apple on the device each time it launches. There is no account to create, no server storing what you bought, and no purchase history kept by us. Restoring a purchase asks Apple, not us.

Diagnostics

iOS reports crashes and hangs back to the app that caused them, roughly once a day. Most apps forward these to a server. PageKit cannot, so instead it keeps a short local note — the date, and how many crashes, hangs, slow launches, or heavy disk writes happened.

That note holds counts and dates only. It contains no document names, no document contents, and no stack traces; the underlying report is read for its numbers and then discarded. You can see the summary in Settings, and share it with the share sheet if you want to send it when reporting a problem. Nothing is ever sent automatically.

Separately, if you have turned on Share with App Developers in iOS Settings, Apple may send Apple's own crash and usage reports to the developer account. That is Apple's mechanism, controlled by you in iOS Settings, and it is aggregated and not tied to your identity.

Children

PageKit is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. There is no sign-up, no profile, and no data collection to consent to.

Your data and your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to see, correct, export, and delete the personal data a company holds about you. PageKit holds none: there is no database of users, no server-side copy of your documents, and no record of you anywhere outside your own device.

That means these rights are already in your hands rather than ours. Your documents are yours to export at any time through the share sheet, and deleting the app removes everything it stored, including its documents, thumbnails, extracted text, settings, and diagnostics note. We cannot delete your data on request because we never had it.

We do not sell or share personal information, and never have.

Changes to this policy

If PageKit ever changes what it does with your information, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the date at the top will say when. A change that materially affects your privacy will also be flagged inside the app.
